ABOUT PARA/SITE ART SPACE
In addition
to raising funds, Artmart is an opportunity to introduce Para/Site's
work and achievements to many more people in Hong Kong. Being
one of the first arts organization in Hong Kong to provide
exhibition space dedicated to installation and performing
arts, Para/Site is now highly respected as the leading contemporary
art space promoting the appreciation of non-traditional and
cutting-edge art forms, with a yearly program selected according
to an annual curatorial direction. This superb achievement
can be seen from an overwhelming response of exhibition proposals
received for year 2005/2006; in excess of 100 artists from
23 countries.
Explaining
the theme for this year's Artmart, Tim Li, Chairman of the
Board of Directors, Para/Site said, "Art inspires our
life, without which life has no enlightenment. Art is everywhere;
it is a matter of re-discovering it in our mundane life. We
want people in Hong Kong to learn to appreciate art. Such
a simple sentence but do we really know what it means? We
hope Artmart will bring people one step closer to the answer."
Para/Site would like to acknowledge the following support
from this year's sponsors
1/5,
anothermountainman, Benetton, Cinecitta, Delicious, Heineken,
Kokage, Sovereign Art Foundation, Smirnoff, Yumla
