Hong Kong
Founded in 1996
for a temporary exhibition project in Kennedy Town, Artist-in-Western,
Para/Site has beenˇXagainst all oddsˇXthe longest-sustained artist-run
gallery in Hong Kong.
Five years after
its move to the present Sheung Wan premises, Para/Site has become
well-known in the Po Yan Street neighbourhood and within the contemporary
art sceneˇXboth local and international. Since 1996 over 300 artists
from 17 different countries have exhibited in 76 exhibitions at
Para/Site. More than 45 publications, including issues of PS
magazine, have been published. In 2002 Para/Site was also invited
to participate as a collective in the renowned Gwangju Biennale
of international contemporary art held in Korea from March 29th
to June 29th.
On Friday, June
21st 2001 a special party will be held at Para/Site to celebrate
its 6th anniversary and to launch its four latest publications:
