"Prescription and Interpretation" is not only the theme but also the format to be explored in this exhibition.

"While my Grandfather was still alive, he used to tell me stories about the newspaper advertisement. He reckoned pages and pages of little black squares which were secret codes prescribing the action of different part of the Triad. In the mind of 10, I believed it with no doubt," Tim Li said.

The concept of "Prescription and Interpretation" in fact exists in our everyday life. Like designing a building, the architect prescribes the design in 2-D drawings, and the contractor interprets the drawings and realizes it to 3-D form. The habitant then fits out the as-built interior to suit the prescribed needs and preferences.

The design and building concepts appear to be a parallel process, and involve transformation of thoughts. The process involves more than two parties who may be unrelated, in different time or localities.

Our exploration started on the Second day of March, the words representing each of us were randomly drawn from a newspaper. It became the code presenting each of us and also the code identifying the prescription.

The prescription may come from many forms, and the dates of issuing those prescriptions would be on March 15, April 15 and May 15, 2002. Each one of us in turn would issue and interpret the prescription. Audiences are invited to "inspect" our prescription and interpretation at Para/Site Central in three different stages from April to June as the exploration goes on.

The Stage III will be on display from June 6 to 30 with "prescription" by Chun Poon and "interpretation" by Tim Li
