Have a slice
ofˇK is the latest work by Hong Kong artist Sara Chi Hang Wong, investigating
the geographical relation between the viewer and his/her perception/perspective
represented in conventions of mapping.
Wong marked
the position of Para/Site Central on the map of Hong Kong's Central
district. Then she projected at an angle designated by the distance
between the viewer and the artwork and the width of the cabinet
space of Para/Site Central towards south, the direction that s/he
views the work. Like a slice of pie, this projection was drawn on
the map and was constructed into an architectural model of 1:100
in cardboard based on the conventional map reading.
Para/Site Central
is an alternative exhibition space ˇ§hostedˇ¨ at Hanart TZ Gallery
and independently run by Para/Site Art Space.
Artist Statement
Ancient people used to struggle with the nature to live. People
were able to protect themselves from natural obstacles ever since
they learnt to live and work under shelter. The concept of indoor
and outdoor evolved. While they tended to stay indoor for more protection,
they became increasingly remote from their exterior space.
